Story:

In the sixteenth century, Niluh Pasek Pandji was mother to the enlightened King of Bali, King Pandji Sakti.

When King Pandji Sakti was just a boy he was traveling with his mother and Royal warriors to the north of Bali. One afternoon while climbing the mountains in central Bali he stopped to taste some rice. A rice cuff got caught in his throat, he began to choke and there was no water in sight. The Royal warriors began to run to the lake at the base of the mountain. Niluh Pasek Pandji threw the lance Ki Tungjung Tutur into the mountain side with all her love and devotion for her son. Her wish was to save his life. A spring of holy water rose from the earth and King Pandji Sakti was saved through the power of his mother's love.

Today this holy water spring can be visited in central Bali at the Rice Water Temple (Tirthe Ketipat).
